Some North Stars notes prior to the Humboldt game

A couple of quick of notes before tonight’s game against the Humboldt Broncos. Lucas Recknagle has left the team. According to the info that I was given he hasn’t been enjoying hockey and decided to head home. If that is the case I wish him well in the future. I hope he doesn’t come to regret that decision the way I sometimes regret quitting baseball too early. It also costs the Stars a card and an inter branch transfer. So everybody loses in this case. Too bad.

Also it is worth noting that Jesse Gerbig has latched on with a team. He will be playing and working in Cold Lake Alberta. Hopefully Jesse plays well and gets a chance to get back on a Junior ‘A’ team soon. Also the Stars made a trade of list players today as well. They dealt goalie Dawson McAuley, who is a ’94, to the Yorkton Terriers for forward Jake McMillen. McMillen is a ’95 born player who leads his midget team, the Yorkton Harvest, with 6 points so far this season. If McAuley plays for the Terriers next season the North Stars would also get future considerations, which would work out to probably another player of the Terriers list or perhaps cash.

There will also be no assistant coach tonight for the Stars. Blair Atcheynum is out of town for the Thanksgiving long weekend. Braeden Johnson is back in the lineup tonight after a stomach bug and will re-unite with Tatchell and Miller. Zach MacLellan is away tonight so Grayden Turner will draw in on the back end. Tanner Quinn will sit out.

The Humboldt Broncos goaltending situation could be sorted out as well. According to reports on Twitter Deven Dubyk looks likely to start for them tomorrow night. He was released from the WHL earlier this month.

The Broncos are hosting the RBC Cup this season as I am sure you know. They have a lot of players on their roster as thing stands. So it is hard to know who will be in the lineup and who won’t. Matt Brackhouse is the reigning SJHL D man of the week. And the combo of Johnson and Johnston were very good in their last game.

So that’s all for now. You should be all up to date. The game is at 7:30 tonight and you can catch it on CJNB/CJNS and online at cjnb.com.
