SJHL Playoffs – Bauer Semifinal Game 6: Battlefords North Stars at Nipawin Hawks

The Battlefords North Stars played their best game of the season in Game 5 to force Game 6 tonight. The Hawks are dynamite on home ice and will not want to go to the Civic Center for a game 7. They will bring everything they’ve got tonight. The Stars will have to do the same.

Recent Game:

Who’s Hot:

Nipawin Hawks:

  • They didn’t have a great game in game 5. Davis Jones was good again. Jeff Datoff is seemingly everywhere all the time.

Battlefords North Stars:

  • Blake Tatchell. 4 points in his last 2 games to help lead the Stars back into this series. Braeden Johnson was outstanding in Game 5 as well. .

Players to Watch:

Nipawin Hawks:

  • It depends who is in the lineup. Will Stu Holland return for game 6? How is the health of Balog, Skilliter, Datoff and others. There were three or four Hawks last Friday night who limped off or skated off slowly. How healthy are the Hawks?

Battlefords North Stars

  • Roger Tagoona. Has had a strong series in terms of taking care of the puck and being physical. He’s been involved a lot. Hitting guys and taking hits as well. He’s got a multi-point game in his future I am convinced of that.

Thanks for setting up what is again, the biggest game of the season Mike. I will eat crow for lunch today as I didn’t think there would be a game 6, but I’ll smother that crow in butter and smile while choking it down.
You sure nailed it by recognizing Roger T-I think he has been unreal and one of the most steady Stars out there this series. He deserves to have some bounces go his way, that’s for sure.
Hats off to the folks of the Battlefords and area for coming out in droves, that is something the region can and should be proud of-a few WHL teams don’t get that many fans out. The league summed the attendance up as “astounding” on the SJHL homepage.
I hope there’s a full bus headed to Nipawin and for those of us that can’t make it-we will all be listening and cheering as loud as we were at the Civic Centre on Friday. Let the boys know how bad we want to see them back here again.
