SJHL Game 21: La Ronge Ice Wolves at Battlefords North Stars

The North Stars have struggled against the Ice Wolves this season with a 1-2 record. The most recent game was a win for the Stars though and it was a gritty come from behind win on the road in La Ronge. The Stars will be looking for back to back wins for just the 3rd time this season.

La Ronge Ice Wolves:

  • The  Ice Wolves were in Kindersley last night and picked up a 4-2 victory. Graham Smerek scored the game winner. Myles Hovdebo made 34 saves for the victory in net. The Ice Wolves are 4-3-0-1 in their last 8 games.

Battlefords North Stars:

  • Beat Notre Dame 4-3 in a shootout.

La Ronge Ice Wolves:

  • Brett Hope. Got into it with Dillon Forbes at the final horn last time these teams played. Hope has been good against the North Stars so far this season. Lets see if there is any lingering bad feelings between the Stars and Hope.
  • Boyer and Smerek. They have 11 points combined against the Stars so far this season.

Battlefords North Stars:

  • Josh Betinol. He has 4 goals and 2 assists for 6 points in 3 games against the Ice Wolves so far this season. Bets had 2 goals last night. So he could be primed for another good game here tonight.
  • Keenan Martens. This will be the 5th time Keenan Martens has faced La Ronge and he has a goal and an assist in the 4 games so far.
