Monday Morning Alumni Update

The York University Lions went 1-1 over the weekend with a tough 10-5 loss to the Western Mustangs. The Mustangs are ranked 6th in the Nation. On Saturday the Lions bounced back with a 4-3 comeback win over the Laurier Golden Hawks. Brett Miller was in the lineup for both games but was held pointless. His York team is now 9-7 on the season. The Lions are now off until after Christmas.

 

Boyd Wakelin’s Augustana Vikings went 2-0 over the weekend with a couple of big wins. The Vikings beat the Portage Voyageurs twice in a home and home. Augustana picked up a 6-4 win on the road Friday and an 8-2 home win on Saturday. According to ACACHockey.info the Vikings are now 10-1-2-0-3 on the season and are second in the league just behind Nait. Augustana has won 3 in a row. Wakelin now has a goal and 3 assists in 12 games played so far this season. He did not have a point this weekend. Next up for Augustana is a home game against Grant MacEwan.

 

And up in Alaska the UAA Seawolves went 1-1 and picked up their first conference win of the season. They faced St Cloud State twice. On Friday Blake Tatchell had an assist and the Seawolves led 3-0 midway through the 1st period only to end up losing 4-3 in overtime. They wouldn’t make the same mistake twice as the Seawolves again built a 3-0 lead on Saturday but held on for a 3-1 win. St Cloud is ranked 15th in the country. Tatchell is 6th in Freshman scoring in the WCHA with 10 points in 11 games played. This weekend the Seawolves are in Minnesota to face Minnesota State.
