World Junior A Challenge

Team West’s selection camp roster was announced today for the upcoming World Junior A Challenge. 7 players from the SJHL were selected to attend. 6 forwards and a goalies. Two North Stars made the cut. Jake McMillen and Blake Young will head to Calgary from October 26-29th to try and make the roster for Team Canada that will head to Yarmouth.
It’s been a heck of a week for Blake Young. First the scholarship and now this announcement. Jake McMillen was off to a tough start this season. He was even a healthy scratch a couple times. He responded well and has come out strong with 3 goals in his last 2 games. I am sure McMillen was already on the radar after his strong rookie season in the SJHL.

The North Stars play twice during that spell hosting Humboldt and Melville. If McMillen or Young or both were to make team West’s roster they would then head off immediately to Yarmouth and would miss several more games. We wish them the best in their efforts. Making that team would be a great honour and would show a lot about the players, the North Stars program and the SJHL. Just being invited is a huge honour for both McMillen and Young.
